LTC participates in EU research project focused about knowledge management and enterprise social software.

OrganiK logoLondon, UK, Washington DC, November 5th 2008 - LTC is proud to announce its participation in the research project ORGANIK (Organic Knowledge Management System for Small European Knowledge-intensive Companies) which officially kicked off on the 14th of October in Thessaloniki, Greece.

The project is part of the “Research for the benefits of SMEs” scheme of the seventh Framework Programme of the European Commission. The goal of the scheme is to strengthen the 'innovation capacity' of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Europe and their contribution to the development of new technology based products and markets. The programme will help them outsource research, increase their research efforts, extend their networks, better exploit research results and acquire technological know-how, bridging the gap between research and innovation.

The aim of the OrganiK project is to research and develop an innovative knowledge management theoretical foundation, technological framework and technical architecture focused on the actual work practices of small European knowledge-intensive companies, integrating different elements of organisational structures, enterprise social software and semantic technologies. The resulting platform will hopefully enable the semantic fusion of enterprise social software applications by accumulating information that can be exchanged among one or several collaborating companies. This enables an effective management of organisational knowledge, and can be adapted to functional requirements of smaller and knowledge-intensive companies.

“It is exciting to see how the internet has been moving from a format of published webpages to an interactive environment.”, said Dr. Adriane Rinsche, managing director of LTC. “It has influenced the way people interact immensly. However, companies are still struggling to figure out how to leverage these new technologies and apporaches to improve their own processes.” Dr. Rinsche continues: "OrganiK is an excellent opportunity to work in an atmosphere of Collaborative Innovation to find answers."

The project involves 9 partners from four Member States (Germany, Greece, Italy and UK). This inter-related multinational cooperation between five participating SMEs and four Research Service Providers (RTDs) is deemed essential in order to implement the rising requirements caused by the European industry in the area of business collaboration and knowledge management.
